The Nigerian Navy has officially announced the opening of applications for its Basic Training School (BTS) Batch 38 recruitment exercise. The recruitment period will run from October 2 to October 31, 2025.
In a statement released by the Navy, it was emphasized that the application process is entirely free. Interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official Navy portal at https://www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng.
Once selected, successful candidates will undergo a comprehensive basic military training and, upon completion, will be enlisted as Ordinary Seamen.
Eligibility Criteria for Applicants
The Navy has set clear eligibility guidelines for those seeking to apply. Candidates must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN). Additionally, applicants must have a clean criminal record and must not be involved with any secret societies, cults, or fraternities.
Specific age and educational requirements are outlined as follows:
O’level holders must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2025.
Those with OND/NCE qualifications must fall within the 18 to 26 age range.
Chaplain/Imam Assistants and Drivers/Mechanics must be aged between 18 and 28.
For all applicants, at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, must be obtained in no more than two sittings in examinations such as WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB, with certificates not older than 2015.
Special Requirements for Certain Professions
Candidates applying for specialized professions, such as Medical Assistants and Nurses, must provide proof of registration with the appropriate professional bodies.
Those applying for technical trades, including tailoring, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and electrical work, must also submit valid Trade Test certificates alongside their academic qualifications.
Additionally, sportsmen and women are required to submit certificates and medals as proof of their sporting achievements.
Recruitment Process and Examination
The recruitment examination is set to take place on November 29, 2025, across designated centers nationwide.
Candidates are required to bring their Attestation Form, signed with a passport photograph of the person who signed it. They must also present a valid form of identification, such as a Driver’s License, International Passport, or National ID Card.
It is important to note that multiple applications from the same individual will result in automatic disqualification.
