Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has received commendation for his administration’s strides in road construction across the Central Senatorial District.

The recognition came from Momoh Obaro, a development expert and Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom, who described the ongoing projects as “a catalyst for economic development” during a facility tour of the sites.

Obaro expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, noting that the transformation achieved by the Ododo administration within two years was “phenomenal.”

According to him, “Our discoveries have been impressive. We have seen a lot of roads being reconstructed, and many new ones are being opened up. About 122 roads with an average completion rate of 60 to 70 per cent in less than two years in office is massive.”

He pointed out the reconstruction of colonial bridges on the Okaito–Osuwe–Obagede road in Okehi Local Government Area as a major relief for communities.

“This bridge was built over 70 years ago, and we suffered greatly from its poor state. We begged previous administrations for intervention without success. Today, courtesy of this government, the project has become a reality. It is very special to us and gives us life. We are grateful,” Obaro said.

He stressed that good road networks remain fundamental to boosting economic activities and tackling poverty.

“When you talk about economic activities, they depend on good roads. This road is going to accelerate and transform the economy of this area. As businesses thrive, poverty will naturally decline. Our people are happy with these efforts to make life better,” he stated.

The APC stalwart also urged residents of the state to continue supporting the administration, while advising communities with specific needs to present them to government through appropriate channels.

Obaro further encouraged the governor to sustain focus on consolidating the transformation agenda initiated by his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
