As anticipation mounts, fans of Nigerian chef Hilda Baci eagerly await an official confirmation from Guinness World Records regarding her latest culinary achievement. The celebrated chef, known for her daring food challenges, made another record attempt yesterday, captivating both Nigerian and international audiences with her creative flair.

Hilda Baci, renowned for her remarkable cookathons, broke records once again, this time attempting to cook the largest pot of Jollof rice the world has ever seen. The attempt saw her draw admiration from both public figures and everyday Nigerians alike. Among those who lauded her efforts was former Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who took to Instagram to express his admiration. “Hilda Baci reminded us yesterday, that greatness can begin in the simplest of places, even in a pot of rice. With imagination and courage, she turned Jollof, our beloved national treasure, into a story that carried Nigeria’s culture to the world,” he wrote.

The First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, was also present to lend her support. Serving as co-chef for the event, she stirred the pot alongside Hilda, showing her unwavering belief in the power of support and collaboration. “It is an incredible feat and it is encouraging. It shows that when you have a purpose in your mind, you should not be afraid or intimidated. You can achieve anything you think of despite the challenge,” Abiodun remarked during the event.

The Federal Government also hailed Hilda Baci’s effort. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the chef’s attempt as “another demonstration of Nigeria’s global excellence.” Represented by Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, Idris emphasized that Hilda’s achievement continued to place Nigeria in the global spotlight.

Hilda’s bold attempt involved cooking a giant pot of Jollof rice, six metres wide, using a specially crafted pot designed for the challenge. The chef had previously set the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023, a 93-hour-long effort that captured global attention.

Reflecting on her motivation for taking on this new challenge, Hilda shared, “I am my mother’s daughter. Wanting to make her proud is enough motivation to keep me going. I think it is important to point out that we are not beating a record, we are creating one. This is something that has not been done before.”

Fans and supporters alike are eagerly awaiting the verdict from Guinness World Records to see if Hilda Baci has once again made history.
