Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha has earned widespread acclaim after his stoppage-time winner against Newcastle United was voted second in the club’s Goal of the Month for August 2025.

The 17-year-old’s goal, scored in the 100th minute at St. James’ Park on August 25, sealed a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory for Liverpool. Ngumoha’s composure was evident as he calmly finished following a clever dummy by teammate Dominik Szoboszlai, who claimed first place with nearly 70% of the votes for his long-range free-kick against Arsenal.

Ngumoha’s strike not only demonstrated maturity and poise under pressure but also made history, making him Liverpool’s youngest-ever Premier League goalscorer at 16 years and 361 days.

“The goal reflects Rio’s remarkable talent and composure,” praised pundits and fans alike. The strike also earned Ngumoha a nomination for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month.

Other notable goals in the top five include Hugo Ekitike’s opener in the FA Community Shield and contributions from Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa.
