The Big Brother Naija Season 10 live eviction show on Sunday took a sombre turn as host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu announced the passing of one of the production crew members, Ayotunde Elegbede.
Ebuka told viewers that the organisers had been informed of Elegbede’s death by his family, describing the news as a sad moment for the BBNaija family.
The announcement came moments after the season’s first two evictions were confirmed.
Danboskid became the first housemate to leave the show, receiving an emotional farewell from fellow contestant Zita, who embraced him before the housemates chanted “three gbosa for Danboskid.” Ibifubara was next to be evicted, while voting charts revealed that Denari narrowly escaped eviction.
Although the eviction show is usually characterised by high energy and suspense, Sunday’s episode carried a note of grief, reminding viewers that the BBNaija platform is powered by a community of people behind the scenes.
