APC Rolls Out Timetable for 2026 Ekiti Governorship Election

The All Progressives Congress has released a detailed timetable for its 2026 governorship primary in Ekiti State, setting out key dates for party activities ahead of the election.

In a statement signed by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, the process kicked off on 25 July with a formal notice to the state chapter. Membership registration updates began on 28 July and will close on 15 August.

The sale of nomination and expression of interest forms will open on 18 August and close on 2 September. Aspirants are expected to submit all completed forms, including delegate lists and supporting documents, by 11 September.

Screening of aspirants is scheduled for 23 and 24 September, with results to be published on 25 September. Appeals arising from the screening must be submitted by 26 September.

The delegate congress will take place on 2 October, with an appeal process following on 3 October. The party’s primary election is set for Monday, 27 October, and any disputes from that exercise will be heard on 29 and 30 October.

Ratification of the primary election result will hold on 28 October, as required by the Electoral Act. The party will begin submitting names of nominated candidates to its national secretariat from 10 November. The final list is expected to be uploaded to INEC’s portal by 16 January 2026.

Campaigns are set to start officially on 6 April 2026, ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, 20 June 2026.

The APC pegged the cost of forms for governorship aspirants at ₦50 million. This includes ₦10 million for the expression of interest and ₦40 million for the nomination form.

Female aspirants and persons with disabilities are to pay only for the expression of interest form, while the nomination form will be free. Youths aged 25 to 40 will receive a 50 percent discount on the nomination form.

The delegate form will cost ₦5,000. To be eligible, members must have maintained financial contributions to the party for at least three months at a rate of ₦200 per month.
