The interim national chairman of the Labour Party, Nenadi Usman, has reaffirmed the party’s position as the most viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking to journalists on Sunday in Kafanchan, the administrative centre of Jema’a Local Government Area, Ms Usman urged Nigerians to maintain their confidence in the Labour Party, highlighting its commitment to people-centric governance.

“We are steadfast in our mission to restore national pride, inspire hope, and deliver governance that prioritises the needs of the people,” she declared.

Ms Usman expressed deep concern over the escalating hardships faced by Nigerians, noting that the suffering of the masses had reached an unprecedented level.

Addressing the recent defection of some Labour Party members to the APC, she asserted that the party remained resolute and continued to enjoy widespread support among the populace. She suggested that those who had left did not fully align with the party’s vision, and their departure had, in fact, strengthened the party’s internal unity and clarity of purpose.

“We acknowledge past errors in candidate selection, but those lessons have been duly noted,” Ms Usman stated. “Moving forward, we will exercise greater diligence in selecting individuals who are genuinely committed to our vision of building a new Nigeria.”

In preparation for upcoming initiatives, Ms Usman called on disaffected party members to reconcile and unite as the Labour Party gears up for a nationwide membership revalidation exercise, congresses, and a national convention. She urged members to set aside differences and work together to advance the party’s objectives.
