More than 8,000 civil servants under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) are set to participate in promotion examinations this week, continuing the FCT’s shift towards a fully digital assessment platform.
The comprehensive promotion exercise is scheduled to run for five days, commencing on Tuesday, November 25, and concluding on Saturday, November 29, 2025. The Computer-Based Test (CBT) will be administered at the National Open University Study Centre located along Kubwa Road, Abuja.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, the large pool of candidates covers 165 different cadres within the FCTA.
Mr. Ezeh confirmed that the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, granted approval for the Commission’s request to expedite the conclusion of the 2024 promotion exercise for FCT/FCDA employees across all ranks. This move, he noted, is part of the Minister’s broader strategy for staff motivation and welfare.
The promotion examination will be conducted entirely through the Computer-Based Test method. Mr. Ezeh stated that the adoption of this digital platform will further deepen the system already approved by the FCT Minister.
“Recall that the FCT under the leadership of Barr. Nyesom Wike blazed the trail as the first Commission in Nigeria to conduct his promotion by CBT,” Mr. Ezeh was quoted as saying.
He further referenced a previous exercise, noting that the Minister had, in August 2025, approved the promotion of 49 directors who successfully passed the CBT examination conducted by the Commission.
This upcoming promotion examination solidifies the FCTA’s commitment to digitising its internal processes, following the precedent set earlier in the year.
