Alhaji Yakubu Murtala Ajaka has officially declared his intention to contest for the Kogi East Senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending months of speculation regarding his political future.

In a powerful statement released on Friday, Ajaka revealed that his decision followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders, youth groups, and a high-powered delegation of Kogi East elders who visited his residence to urge him into the race.

“In respect of the wishes of our people, and in the overriding interest of peace, unity, and collective advancement, I have decided to answer this call,” Ajaka stated. “I will offer myself to serve as the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District.”

The declaration signals a strategic consolidation within the APC. Ajaka emphasized that his bid is rooted in the need to provide “purposeful representation” and to mobilize massive grassroots support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This decision is firmly guided by my commitment to the stability of our party. It is driven by the need to intensify our collective efforts to ensure the successful delivery of President Tinubu’s mandate and consolidate the foundation for his re-election in 2027,” he added.

Addressing the internal dynamics of the party in Kogi State, Ajaka signaled a path of reconciliation and collaboration, stating that he looks forward to deeper consultations with the State Governor, His Excellency, Ahmed Usman Ododo.

He assured his supporters that his campaign would be defined by inclusion and unity, promising to keep the interests of Kogi East as his foremost priority as the political calendar moves toward the 2027 general elections.
