The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State is yet to recover from the resignation of former senator Kabiru Marafa, according to the Senator Kabiru Marafa Consultative Forum.
The forum’s secretary, Mannir Bature Tsafe, criticised the APC’s earlier claim that Marafa’s departure was “inconsequential,” highlighting the recent event where the party welcomed about 360 of Marafa’s supporters who defected to APC.
Tsafe pointed out, “The contradiction is obvious. If Senator Marafa was truly inconsequential, there would be no need for such a celebration over the reported defection of his supporters.”

He further described the figure of 360 defectors as marginal compared to Zamfara’s overall voting population, insisting the party is still facing a significant vacuum left by Marafa’s exit.
The forum accused the APC of recycling the same members under the pretext of “mass defections” instead of focusing on genuine reconciliation and restructuring efforts. Tsafe added, “While Marafa has moved on to pursue his political ambitions outside the APC, his influence will continue to shape political developments in Zamfara.”
This statement comes amid ongoing political tensions within the state’s APC, as the party seeks to consolidate its base ahead of future elections.
