Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has announced the revocation of land allocations at Abuja Technology Village and the University of Abuja to make way for the transformative Abuja City Walk project, inspired by Dubai’s iconic development.

Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja, Wike revealed that investors at the Technology Village failed to develop the site for over 20 years, instead engaging in illegal land leasing.

The revoked land will now support a world-class infrastructure project aimed at boosting the economy and creating jobs, with the first phase set for completion next year.

Wike also addressed the University of Abuja’s undeveloped land, insisting the remaining 4,000 hectares are sufficient, dismissing claims of rocky terrain.

He warned that the FCT Administration will soon seal properties defaulting on ground rent payments after a two-week grace period expires.

Highlighting recent successes, Wike noted that the renovated Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre has generated over N1.2 billion in revenue since its June 2025 reopening.

He outlined ongoing projects, including rural road upgrades, school rehabilitations, and water initiatives, countering claims of a focus solely on infrastructure.

Wike challenged critics to visit transformed rural schools and pledged to commission 10 more soon.

On funding, Wike urged FCT representatives to push for a special intervention fund, citing the inadequacy of the current 1% federal allocation amid rising costs, including the new minimum wage.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to impactful governance, promising more developments to enhance residents’ lives.
