Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has intensified the ongoing leadership crisis within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), warning financial institutions and property owners against dealings with a faction led by Senator Turaki.
Speaking on the deepening internal dispute, Wike said any bank that permits the Turaki-led group to open an account for the sale of party nomination forms could face serious consequences.
“Any bank that allows the Turaki-led PDP to open an account for the sale of nomination forms will be in trouble,” he said.
Wike also threatened action against property owners who provide facilities for the faction’s operations, particularly in relation to party activities.
“I will seal off any house that allows them to use it as the PDP headquarters,” he added.
The remarks underscore escalating tensions within the opposition party as rival factions battle for legitimacy, control of party structures, and influence ahead of future electoral contests. Political observers say the dispute could further complicate the PDP’s efforts to rebuild unity before the 2027 general elections.
