Social media personality VeryDarkMan, also known as Martins Otse, has claimed that his NGO’s account was hacked, resulting in the theft of over ₦180 million. In an Instagram video released on Friday, Otse revealed that the funds had been redirected to an unknown account.
“The NGO money, somebody hacked into the NGO website, and I don’t know how they did it. And N180 million naira is missing. So but we have, thank God we have tracked the person and we are on our way to Jos.
He stated that one suspect has been arrested and that the account has been put on hold to prevent further withdrawals. Otse also mentioned that the NGO’s app has been temporarily shut down for maintenance. Updates on the recovery efforts will be provided.
Otse previously launched the Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, receiving donations totaling over ₦35 million within hours. Don Jazzy, a popular music producer, also contributed ₦100 million to the cause. Follow the link to watch the video for more information.
“And then, they’ve arrested one person, so that’s why I’m even saying it now. I am excited. And an account has been pulled on PND.
“So the account now has N20 million, N160 million has been diverted to another account. So we are currently going there to see how we’ll get the money back.”
“I just want to update you people, I have even asked to shut down the app and put it on maintenance so that people will not really see what is going on, but let me just come out plain and tell everybody that this is what is going on. But hopefully we get the money back, so I’m on my way to Jos,” Otse added.
