Venezuela has launched a fleet of Su-30 fighter jets from Aragua state, military sources confirmed on Tuesday, in a development that has heightened regional attention and stirred fresh questions about Caracas’s next move.

The jets, part of the country’s Russian-made combat fleet, were seen taking off from the Libertador Air Base in Palo Negro, Aragua, early in the day. While the government has not yet released an official statement, the deployment appears to be part of an unscheduled military operation.

Local media reported increased activity at the base hours before the aircraft lifted off, with security tightened along key access routes. Analysts say the scramble may be linked to ongoing political and security pressures within Venezuela and along its borders.

The sudden mobilisation comes at a time of renewed geopolitical friction in the region, with neighbouring countries closely monitoring Venezuela’s military posture.

More details are expected as officials provide clarification on the nature of the operation.
