The United Kingdom has officially declined a request from former US President Donald Trump to send British warships to the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
A UK defence spokesperson confirmed that no Royal Navy vessels will be dispatched, citing ongoing operational priorities and the need to avoid escalating tensions in the region.
The decision comes amid heightened geopolitical strains over maritime security in the Gulf, where Iran and Western powers have clashed over shipping routes and oil exports. Analysts say the move underscores London’s cautious approach to military commitments in volatile international waters.
