Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu following her elevation to Nigeria’s minister of foreign affairs, describing the appointment as an honour.
In a statement released after the announcement on Wednesday, Odumegwu-Ojukwu said she was grateful for the confidence reposed in her to lead the country’s foreign policy at a critical time.
Her appointment marks a transition from her previous role as minister of state for foreign affairs, positioning her at the helm of Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements and international relations.
She takes over from Yusuf Tuggar, who previously held the portfolio.
The development signals a shift within Nigeria’s foreign policy leadership, with expectations that Odumegwu-Ojukwu will steer the country’s diplomatic priorities amid evolving regional and global dynamics.
