Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadarin Daji, have seized weapons, communication gadgets and motorcycles during a series of offensive operations across Kachia and Kajuru Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
Security sources confirmed on Thursday that the troops carried out coordinated cordon-and-search missions in Gada Naji, Wake, Insame and Kabode communities on Wednesday.
According to the sources, contact was made with terrorists between Kabode and Abrum Forest, but the insurgents fled on sighting the advancing forces. Items recovered included three motorcycles, three Baofeng radios and a mobile phone.
The troops reportedly engaged some of the fleeing terrorists attempting to escape across a river towards the Mai-Ido axis, but pursuit was limited due to the difficult terrain.
Similar clearance operations were simultaneously conducted in Kajuru LGA, covering Maraban Kajuru, Kasuwa Magani, Rimau, Kallah, Gefe, Sabon Gari Afogo and adjoining settlements, aimed at disrupting terrorist movements and denying them safe havens.
