Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to the country after attending the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026), where Nigeria deepened economic ties with the United Arab Emirates through a landmark partnership agreement.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said Tinubu and members of his delegation participated in high-level engagements on the sidelines of the summit, culminating in the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Nigeria and the UAE.

The agreement is expected to strengthen bilateral relations by boosting trade and investment flows, enhancing technology transfer and expanding cooperation across strategic sectors, including energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining and renewable energy.

Addressing participants at the summit, Tinubu announced that Nigeria will host a joint Nigeria–UAE edition of INVESTOPIA in Lagos in February, an initiative designed to attract global investors and position the country as a leading investment destination in Africa.

The president also outlined Nigeria’s climate ambitions, telling the gathering that the country aims to mobilise up to $30bn annually in climate and green industrial financing. He said the funds would support Nigeria’s energy transition reforms and help expand electricity access nationwide.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week brings together global leaders, policymakers and investors to discuss climate action, sustainable development and economic transformation, with Nigeria seeking to leverage the platform to attract capital and partnerships for its reform agenda.
