President Bola Tinubu has formally asked the National Assembly of Nigeria to approve a sweeping upward revision of the 2026 national budget, proposing an additional ₦9 trillion to the existing appropriation bill.
In a letter sent to lawmakers, the president requested adjustments that would raise the budget from ₦58.4 trillion to a record ₦67.4 trillion, signalling a major expansion of government spending plans for the fiscal year.
The request now awaits deliberation and approval by the National Assembly.
