Tinubu names Major‑General W. Shaibu new Chief of Army Staff in service‑wide reshuffle

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Major‑General W. Shaibu as the new Chief of Army Staff as part of a broader reshuffle of the country’s service chiefs, the presidency announced Friday.

In the statement signed by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Public Communication, General Olufemi Oluyede was named Chief of Defence Staff to succeed General Christopher Musa. Air Vice‑Marshall S.K. Aneke was appointed Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas was named Chief of Naval Staff. Major‑General E.A.P. Undiendeye will retain his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.

The president expressed appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff and other departing service chiefs for their service, and charged the newly appointed officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by strengthening the professionalism, vigilance and comradeship of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. All appointments take immediate effect.
