••NSA Reacts Angrily to Rejection of CDS and Other Army Chiefs’ Applications

By Mercy Okpe, Lagos.

Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), has sharply criticized the Canadian embassy for denying visas to Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and other top military officers. Ribadu’s outburst came during the maiden annual lecture of the National Association of the Institute for Security Studies (AANISS) in Abuja on Thursday.
The CDS had earlier recounted how he and his team were invited to Canada for an official event honoring war veterans, but were denied visas. Musa expressed disappointment, stating that the incident underscores the need for Nigeria to be self-reliant and assertive on the global stage. “Every disappointment is a blessing,” Musa said. “Yesterday, I was meant to be in Canada… We were invited with our team. Half has gone and half has been denied. It’s very disappointing.”
Ribadu, visibly angered by the news, commended the CDS for speaking out. “Thank you for the courage to say Canada denied you visas. They can go to hell,” the NSA declared. “Even though it’s painful, it’s disrespectful, but we are peaceful and strong and I agree with you that it is time to fix our country. Yet, this is another reason we work hard to make Nigeria work.”
Ribadu also praised Musa’s leadership in the fight against insecurity, highlighting the collaborative efforts of various security agencies across the country.
