Some traditional tittle holders newly crowned at Gurku in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have appealed to the federal ,states and local governments in the country to give more priority in empowering traditional institutions for enhanced security .
Speaking at the event of their coronation on Saturday by the Second Class Staff of Office Sarkin Gurku, Alhaji Jibrin Gurku, the Zanan Gurku Al- Hassan Nasir stressed that the traditional institutions being the custodians of the culture of the people need the support of the federal government down to the local government levels as they are those that are closer to the people in their domains” He said

Various speakers amongst the newly crowned expressed gratitude to the Royal father for choosing them and giving them the opportunity to be part of advisory team of his palace, promising that they will put in their best and ensure that they attract development and contribute meaningfully to the security stability of the area.
Those that were coronated amongst others include Umar Adamu,Hassan Gurku, Inusa Jibrin, aAlhassan Nasir, a journalist and former information officer Karu and Keffi Local government ,who was decorated as the Zanan Gurku.
Contributing, the Permanent Secretary State of Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Idris Umar Idris thank the present administration in the country for considering the role of the traditional rulers ,who are the custodians of the people’s value, norms and culture .
He added that ” With kind of considering the role of the traditional rulers who knows the good ,the bad and the ugly people in their communities the issues of banditry, robbery and kidnapping will be a thing of the passed, urging the government at all levels to continue to support the traditional institutions for security stability of the country.
Highlight of the event excluded not traditional dancers from various cultural groups.
