Governor Abdullahi Sule has named Senator Aliyu Wadada as his preferred candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 governorship election in Nasarawa State, signalling an early consolidation of support within the ruling party.
Sule made the announcement during a meeting with political appointees at the Government House in Lafia, the state capital, according to officials present at the gathering.
Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District in Nigeria’s 10th Senate, recently defected from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the APC, a move widely seen as positioning himself for the governorship contest.
The governor’s endorsement is expected to shape the political landscape ahead of the election, potentially influencing party dynamics and the emergence of other aspirants within the APC.
