Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Semmaris, France, for the development of a modern agri-food market. This partnership aims to enhance food security and improve the state’s agricultural sector.
What does this implies? The Seyi Makinde led administration is working round the clock and as mentioned and promised in his recent newsletter that the agreement between Oyo State and France will be reached this month of April, now it’s been signed. The below refers some of the objectives to the agreement,
Modernize Agri-Food Markets: Develop modern market infrastructure to improve food distribution and reduce post-harvest losses.
Enhance Food Security: Increase access to fresh produce and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
Support Smallholder Farmers: Provide support to smallholder farmers, like the 10,000 farmers already registered under Oyo State’s Agricultural Micro-Enterprise Scheme.
This partnership is part of a broader initiative between Oyo State Nigeria and France to develop the country’s agrifood market strategy. The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and Semmaris are working together to provide technical assistance and support..
