Gunmen have reportedly abducted Mr. Muhammed Egye Osolafia, the Senior Special Assistant on Humanitarian Services to Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule. The abduction, which took place in Lafia, the state capital, adds to a growing list of security concerns in the region.

Osolafia, popularly known as Deedat, was reportedly seized on Saturday night shortly after he arrived at his residence in the Tudun Amba area. Eyewitnesses said the assailants, who stormed the neighborhood, fired shots into the air to create panic before abducting the governor’s aide.

The incident was confirmed by the Governor’s Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, who described the event as “sad and unfortunate.” He stated that he received the information from a colleague.

This recent kidnapping highlights a disturbing trend of abductions targeting government officials in the state. Just two months prior, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Culture, Barrister Yusuf Musa, was also kidnapped from his home in Lafia.

As of the time of this report, the Nasarawa State Police Command has not released an official statement regarding the incident. The public awaits a swift response from security agencies to ensure the safe return of the governor’s aide and to address the escalating insecurity in the state.
