The All Progressives Congress (APC) has achieved a stunning and decisive victory in the local government elections, seizing control of 20 out of the 23 local government areas.

The results, announced by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) Chairman, Dr. Michael Odey, at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt on Sunday, represent a monumental collapse for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
In a humiliating blow, the PDP was relegated to a mere three LGAs, with Governor Siminalayi Fubara himself losing his own Opobo-Nkoro LGA to the resurgent APC.

This stunning reversal of fortune signals a significant shift in power dynamics and a major repudiation of the state’s ruling party.
Details to follow as the political fallout continues to unfold.
