Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has broken his silence regarding the impeachment notice issued by the State House of Assembly, cheekily describing the move as a “love letter.”
The notice, which targets both the Governor and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu over allegations of gross misconduct, comes despite an existing interim order from the Rivers State High Court intended to halt the process. On Friday, the Assembly claimed that the State Chief Judge had officially acknowledged receipt of the notice.
Speaking to supporters at the grand finale of the 2026 NPA Port Harcourt International Polo Tournament, Fubara appeared unbothered by the escalating friction with lawmakers loyal to his predecessor.
“I thought 2026 would be the finest, but they just landed me a love letter,” the Governor quipped, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Fubara emphasized that his administration remains committed to its mandate regardless of the political climate. “That notwithstanding, we must carry out our responsibility as a government, and we will continue to support everyone who means well for Rivers State,” he added.aaaaa
