Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, has urged President Bola Tinubu to remove what he described as “excess baggage” within his administration. Governor Mohammed stated that while governors have confidence in the President’s leadership, the actions of certain cabinet members are undermining his efforts. He emphasized the need for decisive action, urging the President to “throw away the excess baggage.”
Governor Mohammed made these remarks as the special guest during the commissioning of the 14.1km Umuakali-Eberi Road in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State. He praised Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for delivering good governance despite political challenges and expressed confidence in his leadership abilities.
Governor Mohammed also commended Governor Fubara’s composure and maturity in handling political crises, noting that he exemplifies that political maturity is not defined by longevity in politics. He advised politicians to recognize when to step aside and allow the younger generation to lead, praising Governor Fubara’s achievements as a testament to his leadership.
Governor Fubara, in his address, expressed gratitude to the people of Omuma for their support and highlighted his administration’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and promoting development. He announced plans to revamp the secondary school and healthcare center in the area and reconstruct more roads, reaffirming his dedication to delivering good governance.
The commissioning of the Umuakali-Eberi Road project was marked by a call for effective governance and the need to address political challenges to ensure progress and development in the region. Governor Mohammed’s call for President Tinubu to remove “excess baggage” within his administration echoes the sentiment of many who believe that decisive action is necessary for the effective functioning of the government.
