The chairman of Kaduna Electricity, Q.S. Aminu Abubakar Suleiman, has officially declared his candidacy for the Senate. Running on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Suleiman’s declaration has ignited a new wave of optimism across the nine local government areas of the district.

The declaration, made at a high‑powered strategic stakeholders’ meeting, drew an unprecedented gathering of the ADC’s top brass, including the state secretary, the Kogi East zonal chairman and all nine LGA chairmen. The atmosphere was one of resolute unity as party leaders described Suleiman not just as a candidate, but as the “Redemption Mandate” Kogi East has been waiting for.

Our correspondent observed an electric atmosphere, characterised by a rare consensus among party elders. The endorsement of Suleiman was not merely a political formality; it felt like the birth of a movement. Stakeholders pointed to his impeccable corporate record and his unwavering loyalty to the ADC as the twin pillars that will anchor his victory.

Suleiman said: “My aspiration is not born out of a quest for a title, but out of a sacred covenant to restore the dignity of Kogi East. We are not just seeking an office; we are seeking a transformation that will be felt at every doorstep — from Idah to Ankpa and from Dekina to Bassa.

“For too long, our potential has been a sleeping giant. Today, I am calling on the youth, the builders and the dreamers of Kogi East: let us build a district where empowerment is not a favour, but a right.

“The ADC is the hand of progress. Together, we shall move from the politics of promises to the era of performance. I am ready to be the voice that will not be silenced in the hallowed chambers of the Senate.”

Questioned by a party youth leader on his vision for the youth of Kogi East, he responded: “Our youth are not the leaders of tomorrow; they are the engines of today. My senatorial mission is rooted in the belief that when you empower young people, you secure a generation.”
