The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has concluded its internal investigation into an alleged coup plot and is moving to arraign those implicated, signalling a decisive shift from inquiry to prosecution.

Senior military sources confirmed that the investigative phase has been wrapped up following months of intelligence gathering, interrogations and reviews of evidence linked to the suspected attempt to undermine Nigeria’s constitutional order. The DHQ is now finalising legal processes to ensure the suspects are formally charged before the appropriate authorities.

The development underscores the Armed Forces’ resolve to uphold discipline, loyalty and professionalism within its ranks, while sending a strong warning against any actions deemed inimical to national security. Officials stressed that due process would be strictly followed and that the rights of all accused persons would be respected throughout the legal proceedings.

The military leadership also reaffirmed its commitment to civilian authority and democratic governance, noting that internal mechanisms had been activated swiftly to prevent any threat to stability.

As the case moves into the judicial phase, attention is expected to focus on the nature of the charges, the evidence to be presented and the broader implications for military discipline and national security. Observers say the outcome could mark a defining moment in reinforcing accountability within the armed forces.
