President Bola Tinubu has officially approved the posting of four ambassador-designates to key international missions in France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. The announcement was made on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to Onanuga, the postings are part of the 68 ambassadorial nominees confirmed by the Senate last December. The designated envoys include:
– **Ambassador Ayodele Oke** – appointed to France
– **Colonel Lateef Are** – appointed to the United States
– **Ambassador Amin Dalhatu** – appointed as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom
– **Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman**, former Governor of Kebbi State – appointed to Turkey
The posting of Usman Isa Dakingari to Turkey is particularly notable, coinciding with an upcoming state visit to Turkey by President Tinubu scheduled for next week.
Onanuga stated that the President has formally communicated these approvals to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will notify the respective governments in alignment with diplomatic protocols.
He emphasized that these postings come from the Senate-confirmed list, which includes 64 nominees approved in December 2025 following vetting by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs. The confirmation included 34 career diplomats and 30 non-career ambassadors and high commissioners.
Other notable confirmed ambassadors include former Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau, former presidential aide Ita Enang, former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, and former Governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State).
This move signals a significant step in Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements under President Tinubu’s administration, strengthening ties with key global partners.
