President Bola Tinubu has announced a strategic reshuffle in the leadership of two federal universities to promote diversity and cohesion. Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, will transition from his role as Pro-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja to Federal University Oye-Ekiti, while Engineer Kayode Ojo will move from Oye-Ekiti to Lokoja.

In a related development, President Tinubu has also dissolved the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State, due to procedural irregularities in appointing an unqualified Vice Chancellor. This decision led to the removal of Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh and Registrar Mrs. Rosemary Ifoema Nwokike, following reports of the council’s failure to adhere to the university’s governing laws. The council, previously led by Ambassador Greg Ozumba Mbadiwe, faced criticism for creating tensions between the university’s Senate and the governing body.

Additionally, the President has removed Engr. Ohieku Muhammed Salami from his position as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Federal University of Health Sciences in Otukpo, Benue State, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure effective governance in the nation’s higher education institutions.
