President Bola Tinubu Reaffirms Strategic Support for Nigerian Army as COAS Annual Conference 2025 Begins in Lagos

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has renewed his administration’s steadfast commitment to the welfare, professionalism, and operational readiness of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Speaking at the opening of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Annual Conference 2025 in Lagos, President Tinubu underscored the critical role of joint operations, inter-agency collaboration, and a whole-of-society approach in tackling Nigeria’s complex security challenges.

The Defence Minister tasked senior commanders to ensure that the conference’s outcomes translate into tangible operational actions and measurable results on the battlefield.

The Chief of Army Staff reiterated that the Nigerian Army continues to lead the nation’s fight against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, and other criminal activities. Highlighting ongoing reforms, he stated that the Army is purposefully evolving into a professional, adaptive, and technology-driven force capable of confronting both conventional and asymmetric threats.

He urged participants at the conference to be inspired by patriotism, uphold professionalism, and maintain a collective dedication to ensuring national peace and stability throughout their deliberations.

The opening ceremony drew distinguished attendees including senior government officials, Service Chiefs, former Chiefs of Defence Staff and Army Staff, senior military officers—both serving and retired—heads of security agencies, diplomats, and other eminent guests.
