Former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi has claimed that authorities released ex-Kaduna State governor Nasir El‑Rufai without a court order, raising fresh questions about due process and the rule of law.
Speaking during a visit to El-Rufai’s residence in Abuja shortly after his release, Amaechi said the move showed the government “knows what they’re doing”.
“To show you that the government knows what they’re doing, they just released him without a court order,” Amaechi said.
The remarks come amid heightened political tensions and renewed debate over the use of state power, as supporters and critics continue to scrutinise the circumstances surrounding El-Rufai’s detention and release.
