The Presidency has clarified that a poorly laid carpet was responsible for a brief fall involving President Bola Tinubu during a ceremonial reception in Ankara on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at the Turkish Presidential Complex while President Tinubu was conducting a march-past alongside his host, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Despite the slip, which was captured in a viral video, the Presidency confirmed that the President was unhurt and proceeded with his scheduled bilateral meetings and a subsequent press conference.
Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, downplayed the incident on X, stating, “Mr. President missed his step very briefly and has continued his Bilateral meetings… A live press conference is happening immediately.
