The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Chinese national in connection with the recent explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) inside a CCTV shop on Kodesho Street, Ikeja.
According to reports obtained by Zagazola Makama, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, detained the suspect, identified as Joe Gu, at about 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, 25 October, at his residence at No. A11, Bila Vista, Banana Island, Ikoyi.
Sources said the arrest followed discreet investigations into the incident, after the complainant named the Chinese national as a possible mastermind behind the blast.
Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect and the complainant had previously been business partners, but fell out in 2013 following a dispute. It was further alleged that during the fallout, the suspect threatened to disrupt the complainant’s business operations.
Police sources confirmed that the suspect remains in custody while investigations continue to establish his level of involvement and motive.
The Lagos State Police Command assured the public that updates on the case would be released in due course, reaffirming its commitment to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
