In the aftermath of the recent Supreme Court judgment concerning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretary position, governors elected on the party’s platform have announced their rejection of Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Ude-Okoye for the role.
Consequently, the PDP Governors’ Forum has appointed the Deputy National Secretary, Setonji Koshoedo, as the acting National Secretary of the party.
Reading a communique to journalists, the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, stated that Koshoedo would serve in an acting capacity to allow the South East Zone to nominate a substantive National Secretary. This nomination will then be presented for ratification at the party’s next National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
Furthermore, the PDP Governors reiterated their strong opposition to the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, affirming that they have already sought legal intervention from the court to address the matter.
