Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has praised President Bola Tinubu as a true democrat, commending his commitment to the rule of law and the smooth conduct of the ongoing local government elections in the state.
Governor Adeleke made his remarks on Saturday after casting his vote in Ede. Speaking through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor highlighted the collaborative relationship between his administration and the federal government as a crucial factor in ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
“The President is a true democrat who believes in the rule of law and the sanctity of the judicial process. His commitment to upholding democratic principles has played a vital role in the peaceful atmosphere we are witnessing today,” Adeleke stated.
Addressing recent allegations of negative comments attributed to him regarding President Tinubu, Governor Adeleke described these claims as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard such reports. “In my first state broadcast on this matter, I affirmed my respect for the President’s dedication to democracy and the rule of law. Mr. President will never support any action that violates the constitution or endangers peace,” he asserted.
The governor expressed his confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and his belief in the President’s commitment to due process, stating, “We know the President will always insist on fairness and justice.”
Voting in the local government elections began on Saturday morning across Osun State, with Governor Adeleke casting his vote at Ward 02, Unit 09, Sagba Abogunde in Ede shortly before 8 a.m. After voting, he encouraged eligible citizens to actively participate in the electoral process, emphasizing, “Grassroots democracy is essential for national development. I urge everyone to come out and vote without fear or intimidation.”
Governor Adeleke also commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) for its efficient organization of the polls, noting, “The seamless voting process is a testament to the commission’s dedication and hard work.”
