From very critical observation beer business has dropped as majority of the beer parlours now have diversified into selling of Gin,known as Ogogoro.
This became an option if a beer parlour dealer must meet family responsibilities and the maintenance of his or her shop.
The decision was taken to arrived at sustaining livelihood,though detrimental to consumers, who on a daily basis converged at joints to take a sip before going to work or after.
Observers Times on a fact findings report that in New Nyanya, Mararaba, Karu and Keffi, those who operates beer parlours alternatively sale more of ethanol, Ogogoro or Gin as the names implies more than bottles of beer, the finding from Gwaripa, Kubwa, Lugbe and Jikwoyi Axis
Mr paul Gbande said the only reason to why Ogogoro sale more than beer today is due economic hardship.
” You know beer is on high price and you can not afford to share with friends ,while a container of Ogogoro is far cheaper ,which you can afford to make an offer to a friend” He said.
Even though this is not an act to be promoted owing to the fact that Nigerian youth are on a daily basis getting ruined as result of excessive consumption of this toxic drinks, a medical doctor advise that the federal government needs take a stringent action against industries that produced ethanol drinks
Speaking as an anonymous person he said the situation is rather dangerous to the nation’s development far against commercial development.
” To be honest with you, a lot of our youths have lost focus, dying at early age .This is because the producers of these alcohol no longer used the original substances but chemicals that are harmful to the system.
” The National Assembly need take. adrastic action and put in place a regulatory mechanism to check mate not only these companies that produces Ogogoro ,but deal with the hawkers” He added.
