A key associate of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, Alhaji Shaudo Alku, has been confirmed dead following a precision air strike conducted by the Nigerian Air Force.
In a statement released on Sunday, May 18, 2025, the Army reported that the Air Component of Operation Fagge Yama executed the strike near Tunfa Primary School in the Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
“Alku, who had been invited from neighboring Niger Republic for a meeting, was killed alongside several fighters and yet-to-be-identified field commanders,” the statement noted.
This operation is part of the military’s ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist networks in northwestern Nigeria. The military has pledged to provide further updates as the situation evolves.
The Nigerian Air Force, along with other security agencies, has been actively collaborating with the Department of State Services (DSS) in intelligence gathering and sharing to combat terrorism and enhance national security.
Bello Turji is a notorious bandit leader operating primarily in northwestern Nigeria, particularly in Zamfara and Sokoto states. He is responsible for numerous massacres and terrorist attacks targeting civilians and security forces.
The Nigerian government has consistently vowed to apprehend him, yet he remains at large, continuing to pose significant security challenges in the region. Despite ongoing military operations aimed at dismantling his network, Turji has managed to evade capture and maintain his influence.
