Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has announced a bold new strategy aimed at transforming the country into Africa’s top renewable energy hub, projecting over $410 billion in investments by 2060.
Speaking at the 2025 Nigerian Renewable Energy Innovation Forum in Abuja, Shettima said the initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader push toward a sustainable energy future.
“This plan will unlock massive opportunities for industrial growth and sustainable development,” Shettima said.
He added that an immediate investment of $23 billion is needed to expand energy access across the country and connect millions of Nigerians still living without reliable electricity.
