NESREA Benue Coordinator announced the banned of standard use of plastic in the country.

The state Coordinator for National Environmental standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency ( NESREA) in Benue state Mr Daniel Iormough has said the federal has banned the production of standards use of plastic in the country.

The State Coordinator Mr Iormough who spoke to Obertimes at the weekend in Makurdi, explained that the affected items includes sachet water, strolls as well as take away packs amongst others.

He emphacised that awareness would soon commence for the mass producers of those items to take precautions and to informed the general public to know saying anyone who contravened the banned must be severely dealt with.

According to him, we shall soon embark on implementation of the law enforcing the Prohibition of the banned of standards use of plastic production.

Mr Iormough further acknowledge the role of his 0rganization where it is duty bound to enforce environmental compliance both in the State and federal in the country as enshrined in the constitution.

He noted their work schedule includes monitoring round the clock to ensure compliance from individuals and organisations towards ensuring compliance with rules and regulations.

He lamented lack of logistics to enable his ageny collaborate effectively to cover the 23 local government in the State. According to him our challenge is basically vehicle noting there is just one at moment in our possession.

The state Coordinator applauded the efforts of Benue State environmental sanitation Authority BENSECA, noting their doing well in keeping the state capital clean. But we lack mobility to assist in keyed to participate in the exercise
