Former Nasarawa State Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has voiced firm support for Governor Abdullahi Sule’s decision to endorse Senator Aliyu Wadada, drawing parallels with his own political past.
In a measured response to recent remarks by Wadada, Al-Makura said he stands “100 percent” behind Sule’s move, noting that he once made a similar decision during his tenure as governor by backing Sule as his successor.
The former governor, however, signaled a shift in his public role, describing himself as an elder statesman who intends to stay away from political commentary.
“I will not be speaking publicly,” he indicated, adding that his support and congratulations to Wadada would be conveyed privately.
Al-Makura’s remarks underscore continuity within Nasarawa’s political leadership, even as he steps back from the frontlines of public discourse.
