Idah, Kogi — A 50-year-old man identified as Musa Kimono was killed by unidentified gunmen at his home in the Oketecheje area of Idah Local Government Area late Thursday night.

A family member who gave his name as Ogwuche said three armed men on motorcycles stormed the house while Kimono was talking with his mother and son. The attackers shot and stabbed him repeatedly, the relative said, and he died at the scene before help could arrive.

“Three unidentified armed men arrived on motorcycles and invaded the house,” Ogwuche said. “He was discussing with his mother and son when they stormed in. They shot and stabbed him several times. Kimono bled to death before help could arrive.” He added that the victim’s mother pleaded with the attackers to spare him, but her appeals were ignored. Neighbours were alerted by her cries, by which time Kimono had already died and the gunmen had fled.

The incident has been reported to the police, and the victim’s body was taken to a local hospital morgue. A police source in Idah confirmed the matter is under investigation.

Attempts to reach the Kogi State Police Command were unsuccessful; the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, did not respond to calls or messages seeking comment.
