KADUNA— Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and ex-Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that in his nearly four decades of political involvement, he has never encountered a leader with a more comprehensive vision for the nation.
Masari, who currently serves as the Deputy Director-General for Parliamentary Mobilisation for the APC’s 2027 presidential campaign, made the assertion while addressing a group of women in Kaduna.
“Even if I were asked to swear on my age and my political involvement for almost 40 years, I can confidently say I have never seen a president with better plans to make Nigeria great than Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Masari stated, according to a video recording released by HM Arewa.
**Defending the Administration’s Record**
Responding to critics who argue that the Tinubu administration has failed to deliver, Masari dismissed the backlash as a recurring trend in Nigerian politics. He drew parallels to the early years of previous administrations, noting that former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan faced similar waves of criticism during their tenures.
“The people who claim that Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done nothing are the kind of people who never appreciate when someone is doing well,” he added.
**A Call for National Unity**
Beyond defending the administration, Masari used the platform to decry the growing use of ethnic and religious rhetoric in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. He urged citizens to look beyond tribal sentiments, questioning why political discourse is frequently reduced to religious or ethnic affiliations.
Addressing the influential role of women in the home, he charged the attendees to leverage their positions to foster unity. “Each and every one of you knows how to talk to her husband or children better than anyone else can,” he said, warning that divisive narratives are primarily driven by “deeply selfish” political actors.

Masari’s endorsement comes as the political landscape intensifies ahead of the January 16, 2027, presidential election. With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having confirmed the final list of 18 presidential candidates, the race for the presidency has entered a critical phase.
As a key figure in the APC’s re-election machinery, Masari’s vocal support is seen as a strategic move to solidify the party’s base and counter the growing narrative from opposition figures, who have recently faulted the administration over issues ranging from fuel subsidies to the President’s recent international engagements.
