Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that club captain Marc Guéhi will depart Selhurst Park when his contract expires next summer, ending months of speculation about the England international’s future.

“Guéhi has told us that he will not renew,” Glasner revealed during a press conference. “Not just me, but the entire club wanted Marc to sign a new contract, and we offered it to him, but he wants something different.”

Guéhi, 25, is now set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the 2025–26 season, making him one of the most sought-after defensive targets in the upcoming transfer window. His departure marks the end of a transformative era for Palace, where he rose from Chelsea academy graduate to club captain, leading the Eagles to their first-ever FA Cup and Community Shield titles.

Known for his leadership, composure, and consistency, Guéhi has earned full England honours and built a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most dependable defenders.

With his exit confirmed, top European clubs are circling. Liverpool and Real Madrid are reportedly leading the race, while Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan have also expressed interest. Liverpool nearly signed Guéhi last summer for €40 million before Palace pulled out of the deal. Real Madrid view him as a potential defensive reinforcement, especially if Liverpool extend Ibrahima Konaté’s contract.

Despite the looming move, Guéhi remains committed to finishing the season strong with Palace. For fans in South London, it’s a bittersweet farewell — watching their captain prepare for one final campaign before stepping onto the continental stage.

As Glasner put it, “He wants something different.” That “different” could soon mean Anfield, the Bernabéu, or beyond.
