Former Kano State Governor and leader of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo as the party’s consensus candidate for the Kano State governorship election in 2027.
Kwankwaso also endorsed Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna as the NDC’s candidate for the Kano Central Senatorial District, signalling the party’s early preparations for the next electoral cycle.
The announcement, made during a stakeholders’ meeting in Kano, is expected to shape the political landscape of the state as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections. Political observers say the endorsements reflect the NDC’s strategy to consolidate its influence in Kano, one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states.
