Youths from Nigeria’s Kogi State have donated ₦100 million ($—) towards the presidential nomination form of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in a move signalling early mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The contribution was formally presented at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja during a visit led by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo. The delegation was received by the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, at what party officials described as a brief but symbolic ceremony.

Governor Ododo said the donation reflected what he called “strong grassroots confidence” in Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda, particularly among young Nigerians.

“This contribution by our youths clearly demonstrates their belief in President Tinubu’s leadership and their readiness to support him for another term,” Ododo said. “It sends a strong message that the people of Kogi State stand firmly with him.”

The ₦100m fund is earmarked specifically for the purchase of the APC presidential nomination form ahead of the 2027 polls, underscoring what organisers described as early and voluntary backing for the incumbent.

In his remarks, Yilwatda commended the initiative, describing it as a patriotic gesture that highlights the growing political engagement of young Nigerians. He added that the donation removes the need for further fundraising efforts towards the president’s nomination form.

Representatives of the Kogi youth groups said the funds were mobilised through community-based contributions and grassroots fundraising campaigns. They cited infrastructure projects, security reforms and economic policies under Tinubu’s administration as factors motivating their support.

The APC leadership expressed appreciation for the gesture and reiterated its commitment to youth inclusion and participatory governance as preparations gradually begin for the next electoral cycle.
