••Eradiri Accuses Rivers Governor of Incompetence and Ethnicizing Crisis, Urges Him to Seek Forgiveness
Port Harcourt, Nigeria – Former President of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Worldwide, Udengs Eradiri, has called on Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to seek forgiveness from his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, amidst the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Eradiri attributed the crisis to Fubara’s “incompetence” and urged him to refrain from politicizing the issue along ethnic lines.
In a statement released to the press, Eradiri alleged that individuals advising Fubara to confront Wike are secretly seeking favors from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.
“As for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, he is incompetent, and that is what has brought all this negative energy. He should not involve Ijaw in his political issues and affairs,” Eradiri stated. “Let him tell us how he has supported the Ijaws or Ijaw activities?”
He questioned Fubara’s record of empowering Ijaw people in Rivers State, asking, “How many Ijaws of Rivers State did he empower that he is demanding Ijaw support now? How many of the IYC comrades in the Eastern zone were LGA chairmen, commissioners, and appointees in his government?”
Eradiri praised Wike’s “fighter” style and recalled Wike’s visit to Abalama, questioning Fubara’s mobilization efforts during that time.
“I advise Fubara to go and kneel before Wike and beg for forgiveness,” Eradiri said. “Those who are deceiving him have no balls. They go cap in hand kneeling and begging the same Wike, and when they get what they want, they come into the open to claim Ijaw lions.”
He credited President Bola Tinubu’s intervention, through the threat of a state of emergency, for saving Fubara and the Ijaw nation from the “embarrassment of impeachment.”
Eradiri also reminded the public that Wike “singlehandedly made Fubara Rivers governor” and noted the lack of gratitude shown by Ijaw leaders at the time.
“Fubara did not buy form or even speak a word during campaigns. Why should he now be disobeying and reneging on agreement? Men are those who keep their words and abide by agreements,” Eradiri concluded.
