A recent leadership perception survey by the Nigeria Social Media Week Group (NSG) has placed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as Nigeria’s “Most Loved” and “Most Admired” governor for the second year running. Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno, meanwhile, has been recognized as the country’s “Most Inspiring” state leader.
The 2024 survey, based on independent online polls across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones, primarily engaged youth and digital civil society communities. The NSG highlighted Makinde’s accessibility, performance, public engagement, national recognition, and legacy achievements, particularly citing his Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub and infrastructure projects.
Governor Eno was lauded for his resilience and inspirational leadership, especially following the recent loss of his wife. His youth mentorship, entrepreneurship support, and infrastructure development under the ARISE Agenda also earned him high marks.
The NSG emphasized the non-partisan nature of their ratings, which are based on verifiable impact, public feedback, and digital data. Official recognition awards will be presented to the top-ranking governors at a later date.
